What is Padel?

Padel is a racket sport typically played in doubles on an enclosed synthetic turf court surrounded by glass walls and metallic mesh. Padel uses the same scoring system as tennis (15-30-40). The ball can be played off the walls similar to the game of squash.

Rackets & Balls

Padel rackets are usually made from carbon fibre or fibreglass. They are perforated rather than having strins like many other racket sports. Padel balls are similar to tennis balls but have lower pressure.

How to play

A game is started by serving diagonally. Underhand serves are used and the ball should bounce in the opponent’s box. Players should let the ball bounce once before returning the serve. Shots can be played off the glass walls but not off the metal fence. Points are scored by opponent’s errors.

Sets are won by reaching six games with a two-game lead.
